We'll hold elections in literally 2 days, so we just might see AKP losing some influence in the parliament at least, but Erdoğan's position as the president is pretty much secure at this point. The sad thing is, the presidency is supposed -and outlined in the constitution- to be a mostly representative position with very little political duties or powers. Needless to say, he's taken it far beyond what's legally allowed and no one is doing anything about it.
In all honesty, I'm doing all I can to get out of here. That said, safety shouldn't be an issue in holiday spots. Those are far too apolitical to be targeted by anyone. Hell, my long term goal is to live elsewhere but still come back here for a few weeks in summertime for cheap holidays.
