>>50051955Traditionally, Judaism only had a single temple -- one temple for one God. Two temples have existed in Jerusalem, and the second was destroyed by the Romans about 40 years after Jesus died.
The Jewish War happened after the Bible takes place, but is one of the most important events in early Christianity. It led to mass numbers of Jews leaving Israel for the security of Arabia, Europe, and the Sassanian Empire.
Jewish mysticism traditionally focuses on the "Third Temple", which will coincide with the coming of the Messiah. Most Jews believe that the Messiah will one day lead Israel and build the Temple, but other Jews believe the Temple must be built for the Messiah to arrive.
Christians obviously believe the Messiah has already come, but agree with Jewish dissenters somewhat, by thinking that it must be rebuilt for Jesus to return to Earth.
