Japanese is very hard for English speakers compared to other Indo-European languages, but our brains all run on the same firmware so you'll get it if you try.
If you're completely monolingual then I would suggest learning elementary Esperanto first. It is a trivial language to learn and will help your brain accustom itself to understanding foreign languages.
