Our GDP was never less than double the Soviet Union's, Western Europe is obviously a much better prize than the east, our country's economy doubled during the war while theirs was ravaged. You think I'm saying this from national pride? I don't care. The overwhelming power of the US post-WWII has been used for very little good and a great deal of harm. Everything after the Marshall plan and Korea has been a disaster.

But there's no denying Stalin was just paranoid. The US wasn't Nazi Germany 2.0 and the Soviet Empire in Eastern Europe didn't exactly usher in a new age of progress for the region.
