The colours of the flag fit in more with the colours of the place.
The gun is there not to look tough, but as a constant reminder of the horrible violence that shook the place. The country never really resolved it's civil war and is run like a dual-dictatorship, with violence threatening to break out occasionally. The gun is thus tasteful IMO given their situation, a sort of "peace is what matters" gesture. at least that's what someone told me.
The book is to represent education, which mozambique does well with considering their resources.
I own it and I hung it up in my room for a while.
