The U.P. is the best place I've ever visited. The most unique, welcoming and hospitable (save for the weather) place I've ever visited. If you have grit, you'll find no problems fitting in. It took me a while to acclimate, being from the city, but once I found my niche, it was hard to let go. Found myself in tears when it was time to move away.
You're never to old to experience the Keweenaw, the Porkies, the unmatched U.P. wilderness. Go visit. Seriously, even if you only have a couple days to do so. I highly recommend you move there if it's within your means.
