I have no idea about the most famous one in Japan.
In Japan, games are sold in general electronics stores like Best Buy. There are still small game stores operated by family basis, but it's not major source to buy games for typical people. As for pre-owned games, we can buy them in pre-owned book store such as Book Off. Pic related.
