So a person wants to learn German (presumably to communicate with German speakers) but me saying that there is nothing wrong with learning how to talk to/about a sizable proportion of the population makes ME the cuck? He is the one that wants to know German. If you want to know German then you have no right to complain about learning to communicate with people that actually speak German. It makes no sense.

I guess it's completely useless if you use the app, but I don't see how you could call the website completely useless. It teaches you a few thousand words and how to use those words in sentences. It has grammar information, sentence discussions, and a forum. It's a great way to get started with a language. The app on the other hand doesn't have grammar info, doesn't have forums, and only the android app has sentence discussions.

Duolingo is absolutely top tier, only a one-on-one teacher is better. You get all the vocab and grammar a book has, plus you get to translate articles and work with the language.

Sure, they could improve their verbs explanation and they could have more listening stuff.

in my case i mostly learned German grammar and most of vocabulary from other sources before going on duolingo

Solely relying on it will probably get you nowhere, at least not fast
