So I have one of those Yugoslavian mess kits that I want to clean up and start using. My only problem is with the canteen. It's not see through or anything so it's really hard to look inside it, but there's a fairly strong smell of mold coming from inside it. Would like 3 or 4 drops of bleach be enough to kill any potential mold? Should I let it sit with bleach in it for a while?
I'm thinking 4 drops of bleach, shake it and rinse it, another 4 drops, let it sit, rinse it, some dish soap, shake and rinse, and then a proper outside wash and another inside shake wash with dish soap, then maybe some toothpaste inside, shake and rinse, then scrub with some toothpaste outside. Do you guys think this would be enough to just sterilize the fuck outta this thing?
Or should I not use this at all? I've heard from some people that these are actually somewhat collectible and rare or something, is that true?
