I'll list those I can remember. Keep in mind that I'm Swedish please, I'll try to translate what I said as best as I can.

Very strange, I'm used to hearing about Americans sperging out and saying, "I don't need to tell you," when a doctor asks if they've ever had a mental/physical disability.

The only possible problem I can infer in your answers is that they are concerned you will have trouble being away from your family for longer periods if that become necessary, "but I'll only be away for three months so it shouldn't be a problem," and even then I'm not sure and am just taking a guess. I'm really not seeing anything wrong with what you've said.

Thanks man, I went there to be as honest as possible. I can be away for a long time though, that's really not a problem at all. But she didn't ask me if I'd be okay with going overseas for an extended period of time so there's really no way for them to know.

When I came home afterwards my mom's friend's friend who is in the military said that they fail everyone due to costs and/ or age of the individual. So it seems to me like they want to increase the average age of the soldiers as well as decrease the amount of soldiers even further. Everyone I talked to at the regiment were over 25 years old and only privates so I assume they drafted when they were 23-24.

Anyways, I shouldn't think about it too hard. I'm only 18 and my life has barely begun.

So I'm leaving for BCT in Janurary, starting to down size my stuff to put it into storage until I can get stationed and whatnot.

I used to play airsoft(inb4 airshit) and have quite a good bit of QUALITY gear, I'm planning on selling most of it off to bank some cash before I leave, anything you guys suggest I hold onto for when I deploy/get stationed? It's mostly multicam gear, so it will fit in with the new camo.

Also, does anyone know the regs for duty belts? Is it just color restrictive?

For uniform regs google AR 670-1.

Belts at least for acu uniform were black or tan.

I would just keep anything multicam acu or black, gear wise.

You will get issued all ur pouches and shit though, so unless u r planning to go sof type in the future u wont need most of the gear like vests/uniforms.

I would keep all pouches, canteen mag holders, elbow knee pads if multicam, gloves, plate carrier?

Idk what u have, so at minimum keep all the pouches, you can never have enough pouches

I mentioned survival training in basic training during my interview and the officer grilled me over it, despite me listing all the things i'd be doing, that one thing set him off. Told me I'd not suit infantry, went for Artillery instead.

I don't know what pouches you have and what you might find useful for your particular MOS.

Maybe hang onto anything you're iffy about and then see what it's like at your permanent duty unit. Some units are turbo-autistic about your pouch layout, though most are flexible within reason. Don't show up on your first field problem as the new guy kitted out with $2000 of pouches.

The aftermarket gear that I would most universally recommend to include quality of life are:

>Good 2-point adjustable sling
>Aftermarket helmet straps (Ops-Core in a similar visual style to what you are issued).
>Pouch for NODs. Something like a SORD SAW pouch is good. If not, you can just chuck them in an issued canteen pouch.

You'll probably find your way into what to wear and how to wear it. Look at what experienced people in your unit who do your job are wearing.

Duty belt regs are somewhere in AR670-1. Though I've seen every military color worn not problem. You can't go wrong with black, tan, or brown as inoffensive colors.

I graduated with a bio degree. Are there any MOS that that info will help with?

Also, what should I lie about to doctors at the MEPS? I have some acne, and I have an obstructed nose due to chronic inflammation. I know I can still pass the physical fitness test. Also, my hips are uneven (don't know if due to tightness or what). Should I just not mention that?

And yes do not mention your hips, acne shouldn't be a problem. I had bad acne when I joined and had no issues

Other anon mentioned NBC, go for it if you want, but from what I head, it's mostly a dead end filled with bored people who hate their lives because there is literally never anything for NBC/CBRN to do. What level is your degree? You can make bux as a scientist for the military but you generally need a PhD or have a Master's and get your PhD through the military.

13T Surveyor/Meteorological crewmember would probably be the one to sight in strikes, which would usually be called in by a forward officer, not the artillery officer. How is the artillery officer going to "call in" a strike when he's at the place the strike is coming from?

Have more than just pouches, have a wheeled deployment bag, and some 3 day packs, battle belt and chest rigs etc.

Might just hang onto all of it until I find out what I can and cannot use.

Have a cobra belt as well in FDE that I was looking to use. If the only regs are for color really, it should be good to go. Those buckles are just so damn nice.

I'm shooting for becoming a SERE specialist in the air force after I finish my degrees in 2 years (environmental science and chemistry). Air force all around seems pretty good though as a branch for a potential career. More like a corporation than a military branch, as they say.
