Yep, it's full-auto only until you remove the lightning link, in which case, returns the gun to semi-auto only.

But like >>27727136 mentioned, select-fire guns are banned in CT (along with almost everything else), but full-auto only guns are not. So they're nice for people who live in CT.

I work in a fabrication shop. I can easily cut this out on a laser. I need tollarances and more specifics on the little piece. The angle of the bend on the bevel. I work 10 hour days and I'm to tired to dig up the prints where ever they may be online.

colt discontinued the SP1 carrier precisely because the lightning link allowed conversion of a cheaper (slightly) AR-15 into a machinegun - taking business away from them and creating a possible legal liability issue. this is around the time colt start pinning blocks in the lowers, making high shelves, and completely removing the lower half of the carrier's rear.

"Commercial" style bolt carrier WILL WORK with bottle openers. DPMS sells a "Commercial" bolt carrier that has the SP1 cut at the back, with a shrouded firing pin. It's a hybrid with the benefit of a shrouded firing pin and a bottle opener cut at the back.

They're like $50 or so on midwayusa if you don't have a DPMS AR-15.

Stupid fucks, always spreading lies. Modern "commercial" works just fine.

For most states, it's only illegal to install M16/full auto fire control group parts if you don't have a registered DIAS, but it's legal to own them (say, the plastic-shell packages from DPMS on Gunbroker). If your state bans machine guns, it also likely has a ban for machine gun parts. Using a full-auto hammer as a paperweight is a felony in some states.

to the one who said those bolts aren't used anymore correct. the guy who asked how it works. the long end with the hole in it goes over the disconnector and the short end goes behind the lug that keeps the recievers from pivoting away from eachother when the rear take down pin is in, then the BCG has a latterally elongated cut in the lower shoulder of the carrier that strikes the short side of the LL and causes it to pull back the disconnector to release the hammer of gun, works with semi and full auto fire control groups, but if you go with a full auto group, may as well get a real sear and a registered lower, or a DIAS (Drop In Auto Sear) for 20,000 and a new reciever with a full auto FCG. you can do this with an AK by soldering a metal cable to the BCG, looping it at one end, wrapping it around the selector bar, and having the looped end go over the disconnector, make sure you use the right length of cable lest your bolt not go into battery or your full auto not work (reliably or at all)

In the case of AR's the ATF likes to be gigantic assholes about it because not only have they declared that machinegun conversion devices (i.e DIAS) are themselves machineguns but also they are of the opinion that an AR style rifle with enough full auto parts (but no third hole or auto sear of any kind) is also a machinegun because it can be induced to fire more than one shot per trigger pull by flipping the selector to full and letting the hammer ride the bolt down on very light primers.

Ignoring the fact that this is a dangerous and unpredictable malfunction, not a designed feature, it's even more nonsensical because if every AR receiver is already a "machinegun" without modification then a DIAS isn't a machinegun conversion device (how can you convert a machinegun into a machinegun?) and thus isn't a machinegun itself.

Tl;dr everything is a machinegun fuck you.

That's not the reason. From what I can discern, federally it's not illegal to have an M16 FCG installed without the autosear, but it's generally reccomended that you don't do it because if you have a malfunction that causes more then one shot per trigger pull then it shows intent.
You can even own an autosear as long as you don't have access to the gun it goes to (constructive possession laws).

As always, check state laws.

The sear cant get blown up like the lower can, so it does have its advantages, plus its a very small piece that can be hidden or stored separately.
Throw a magnet on it and store it stuck to the inside of the top of your safe, even if they break in and get everything else they probabaly wont find it.
