It's a religious thing, they're told to shout that instead of cursing. Also, in times of distress they're extremely emotional to "do away" with those negative feelings. This is why they constantly wail during burials.
Although the Islamic militants take it overboard due to their religious nature. More secular forces (Kurds, SAA and pro-government militias) don't do it as much.
