>>27738955You don't need to fully deregulate machine guns, which will probably never happen. But there will likely be some changes to NFA law if there is a Republican president and both houses of Congress are Republican for the next few years.
I foresee gun laws changing like this:
Near future (2017-2018)
>national CC reciprocity>mental health/medical records-sharing with the ATF/FBI is increased(this is not really desirable from a freedom standpoint, but it's pretty likely to happen as a political "concession" to passing national CC reciprocity)
Foreseeable future (2018-2020)
>silencers and SBRs removed from the NFA>this significantly expedites the application process for transferring a MG, SBS, AOW or DD, decreasing the wait time to only 1-2 weeksOne possible future (2020-2022, if Trump can expel enough Democrat-voting illegal beaners and educate young white people to stop voting Democrat based on "liberal compassion")
>Hughes Amendment is overturned, allowing the purchase of new machine guns through the NFA registration process>after the wait time goes back up to 12 months overnight, and balloons to 5-6 years wait time over the next few weeks as everybody puts in their orders for a new $59 FA sear to convert their existing AR 15's, legislation will be introduced requiring the NFA registration process to be simpler and quicker>eventually, SBS's and AOW's are removed from the NFA registry, the ban on >.50" bore rifles will be overturned, and the NFA just gets re-named the "machine gun registry">requirements for buying a machine gun become the same as buying any new firearm - just fill in another form at time of purchase that resembles a 4473 but is sent to the ATF instead of remaining in the FFL's files; and since all criminal and mental health data is shared, registration can be instantaneous, instead of being a 6-12 month process
