>>27657121SAS boat troop is pretty much interchangeable with the SBS and vice versa. SBS spend more of their counter terrorism time focused on the maritime environment but the SAS spend more time in counter terrorist training in general, so it probably balances out. When UKSF raided the MV Nisha it was a joint task force of SAS and SBS. If there was a land based attack, chances are the SAS would be the first port of call and the SBS used only if the scale of the attack necessitated it.
As of their last recruitment campaign, SRR are like America's Intelligence Support Activity. They have fingers in many pies. On site exploitation and interrogation after SAS/SBS operations (usually only requires 1-2 guys), agent running and plain clothes surveillance (in connection with Int. Corp's FRU), long term covert reconnaissance and intelligence briefing of other UKSF elements. It's probably fair to assume that if Britain wanted to assassinate someone a la Massad style then MI6 would be working alongside the SRR. They also support domestic police counter terrorist work.
For regular 'overt' reconnaissance (of the warfighting sort), the SAS and SBS will always be the preferable resource. Although they're a jack of all trades unit, reconnaissance is pretty much the defining characteristic of who they are and what they've always been most effectively utilized for. Pathfinder Platoon are 16AA's own little self contained SAS-lite unit, but they're unlikely to be used by DSF unless he's really drawn out.
SFSG is pretty much just an enhanced light infantry assault force. They have their own reconnaissance elements (patrol troops) but they're almost exclusively utilized in the assault capacity. Structurally, they're optimally designed to put down maximum fire for their size.
