A m8 of mine bought a couple of ballistic face masks years ago as a joke. They suck for actual use for many of the reasons people have already posted, loss of FOV, no cheek weld, hot and uncomfortable, makes it hard to breath and communicate, can't wear a helmet or earniggas with the traditional model, etc. Plus they look ugly as fuck compared to how they look in Army of Two which was why my m8 bought them. So I started working around them with fiberglass and some composite materials, painted them, sculpted them, all that jazz. You can make them look neat, but they'll never be good for much else other than posing, and even getting them right for that takes work.
