>>27674112Hello Anon, F-15 E&E guy here. Used to work at RAF lakenheath, phased every jet there was that carried the name F-15 at that base, and a few that weren't. Gotten hands on A,B,C,D and E models. A and B courtesy of training and volunteer time stripping for static displays plus one cool trip to Dryden. C/D/ and E was my full time job earlier in my career.
E model is externally very, very similar to C/D. most people cant tell the difference. E model has two seats, D has two but it is a trainer jet. E is actually derived from D. neato. E model is reinforced with a slightly beefier frame based off of lessons learned from A-D in terms of metal fatigue and flight hours. E has more powerful engines, usually PW 220/229. 220s have an orange flame, and 229s have a purple flame. E model is fucking loaded to the gills with electronics for all sorts of shit, make no mistake, that plane is an electric fighter, and even it's power generation system is beefier.
C model. Its got a lot more empty space to work around in, though recent upgrades have stuffed more electronics into it.
From the pilots i talked to, neither plane is a slouch in terms of maneuverability or speed.
So, in terms of holy fuck this is cool, the award goes to NASA's F-15s for being first gen B model, with latest gen PW229 engines. They weigh next to nothing compared to even the already lightweight C, and have a fuck ton of power. "Plane go fast."
