Be me, have an RIA Tact 1911 in 10mm.

Piece of shit won't function worth a damn. Hits 2 feet high at 20 yards. Recoil impulse is "off", realize it has a 16lb recoil spring instead of the 20lb a 10mm should have. Buy new magazines because the one that came with it are shit. Send it back to manufacturer. Get it back, still won't function but sights are on point. Send it to manufacturer again. Piece of shit STILL won't work.

Finally in my disgust trade it to ANYTHING at a gun store. Get a I.O. AKM247. Read up on it online because I'm a dumb fag who took the clerk (covered in tats) word at the counter. Everyone online says its a piece of shit. This confirms my suspisicion because the god damn safety was "floating" and wasn't properly installed in the receiver.

Don't even fire it! Trade it to so dude at work for a Browning HiPower Mark III. Homeboy kept his gun near the shower so it has surface rust. Polish everything, remove rust, order new grips and springs. Bitch runs flawless...

Lesson learned.

1. Don't buy anything from asians
2. Quality cost money.
3. If you want a 1911 get a Colt, Dan Wesson or Springfield (if you don't mind dealing with broken ambi-safeties)

I bought a handgun in 10mm because I like the 10mm. I can handload stout loads or shoot .40S&W loads in the 10mm case. I like it for the same reason I like the .38 Super. I can shoot light 9mm loads or workout hot .38 Super loads that blow +P+ 9mm loads out of the water. Now if your too dumb to figure out how to handload then both those calibers are too expensive to afford.

The gun wasn't sighted for 50 yards...not at that velocity and at the distance it was shooting hight at 20 yards. It wasn't sighted at all.

Yes, Kimber arms sucks hard. Never heard of Knight Arms so I assume it sucks as well.

I know people that have flawless RIA and know people who got lemons. It is rare to run across someone with a lemon from Dan Wesson, Colt or Les Baer. I'm sure it happens but not quite as often as RIA.

Fundamentely an RIA is made exactly the same as a Colt and with a Colt you are only paying for a name. At least that's what I've been told. My actual mileage has varied greatly in that I shoot far more accurately with a Colt than any RIA I ever picked up and I've never had a malfunction with a Colt but I can't say the same for a RIA.

The problem with Americans is that they are obsessed with what they percieve as "value".

If a man studies how to make pastries for years in Italy and then opens up a shop in the United States making quality delicious pastries with a price to match he will go broke. But if a man who knows nothing of pastries orders questionable ingredients from China and slaps together a sub-par pastry with slave labor from Mexico he will be rich.

American think its a "value" because you can get 5 sub-par pastries for the price of one good Italian one.

I'm not surprised RIA has reached success while companies like Colt flounder. Americans are stupid and think value = cheap. If it doesn't work, then return it to the factory. If it seems a little rough, then dremel it up and polish it in your spare time. Good enough!

I love my country but the obsession with "value" shows a lack of education.

Lack of education is part of the problem; everyone wants everything to be american made, top quality, but don't want to pay those prices. If iphones were made in the US, they would be $3000 because of union wages, safety regulations, EPA, and other horseshit driving up the cost.

Also, I wanted to point out you bought an inexpensive gun expecting top quality. Fair enough, it should work from the factory, but they were easy fixes you could have done.

Then you blindly traded it for another inexpensive gun and cried when it too did not work.

Then you traded it for a neglected gun and had to put a bunch of work into it and replaced parts to get it back to retail quality.

That's not really true. "Value" is a social construct. In America we are a disposable consumer society. It's very easy for us to replace broken toys, so we pick things on the cheap and then replace them if they break. We can afford to do this. RIA reached success because Colt refuses to innovate and RIA can produce their old classics at a fraction of the cost. The real trick is getting their QC down, but that being said RIA is making good money and getting plenty of new customers. If Colt wants to compete they need to start showing they know how to compete. Not everyone wants a 1k 1911. Remember cheap doesn't mean it's good and expensive doesn't mean it's not shit.
