Prices are this high in burger land. Pic related, the SKS I just picked up. It came with the stock, the pawn store owner said the original was cracked in half so he had to put it on. Also, no original mag, a shitty metal 30 rd mag. I have 5 TAPCO 20 Rd mags on the way.
Paid 430$ for it after tax. Yeah, it's high, but the days of the cheap SKS are gone in Oklahoma. All other gun shops wanted 430$ for a SKS that looked like it had been run over with a tank. I figured I needed to get into the market while a working class guy like me could afford to, before the HABBENING.
o far I've cleaned it, removed the bayonet (saved all the parts, it's a screw in). Added a TAPCO extended mag catch (fuck vanilla SKS fag that original mag release is gay). Also, I had to shim the stock, the receiver would move up and down a bit. Shimmed it with a poker chip I trimmed down. Also, ground the mag retention lips off for easy mag removal.
She is in great shape, barrel looks practically unshot, and everything else is in great condition. Can't wait for my mags to get here so I can go to the range. I think this will be my go to rifle for a long time, money doesn't come easy as a mechanic.
Pic related, a artsy pic I took.
