So the Finnish Air Force is looking to start replacing it's Boeing F-18C/D Hornet fleet with something that'll hold up from 2030 onwards.

The choice has been narrowed to these five planes but I wonder.

Gripen would be solid choice due to logistics as spare parts that would be coming from a very short distance away but does it really perform any better than a F-18C/D?

Does France even sell Rafale to other countries? I mean when you have an fighter that's barely ever used by any other country in the world that's usually a sign of it being designed to operate only within very specific circumstances so it seems kinda fishy, performance wise I don't know much about it but eh.. French.

Typhoon seems pretty nimble but doesn't it also start to show it's age by now just like the F-18C/D?

F-35 - Haven't heard anything positive about it so far and even Canada seem to have been giving up on it so eh.. let us know if you'll make any progress before 2021 when the choice is made.

Super Hornet what's the difference to F-18C/D and would it really be a sensible long term upgrade?
