>>27682328Take it from someone who was in your shoes a few short years ago; brand new to concealed carry and not knowing shit - IT DOES NOT MATTER THAT MUCH.
I carry a 1911. It's a 100 year old design that is horribly obsolete in many ways. This ancient fucking design has TWO safeties, one of which is an automatic ergonomic safety and the other is one of the best manual safeties ever put on a gun. Not only does its placement make disengaging it on the draw almost automatic, but it actually locks the hammer itself back, so even if the trigger sear is defeated the hammer ain't going anywhere. The gun is actually safer with the hammer cocked than it is without.
People who don't carry in Condition 1 (round chambered, hammer cocked) sometimes carry Condition 2 (round chambered, hammer down.) They do this because they prefer thumbing the hammer back on the draw, which is fine. Should the hammer be brushed back by accident, there's a half-cock notch which will capture the hammer should it draw back far enough that releasing from that point would set it off. Back In The Day, military men who were left-handed would sometimes deliberately leave it in the half-cock notch so they could easily cock the hammer all the way from Condition 2 without worrying about the safety being on the wrong side of the pistol for their thumb.
All these methods are highly effective, mechanically reliable and safe. And that's for a fucking obsolete, 100 year old gun. Your Glock is a MUCH more modern firearm benefiting from several major advancements in technology and engineering, as well as many lessons learned the hard way about the employment of defensive sidearms. If I trust my life to my 1911 carried in Condition 1, you can most assuredly trust your life to your Glock with a round chambered.
