The past few days I thought about buying a pistol.
The shopkeeper recommended me the CZ P09.
My uses is for self defense, concealed most of the time.
I also live in a very hot and humid area so I need to be sure it won't rust and be reliable in the moment of truth.

It will be too large to conceal with most clothing you would wear in a hot climate. Concealment being a priority I would look into a firearm with a shorter grip length. A shorter/slimmer slide will make it more comfortable to carry as well.

If you want to stick with CZ, a P-01, SDP, or even a RAMI would be a better choice.

They still have the angled grips and aggressive beaver tail.

75 Compact will weigh more because it's all steel. Manuel safety.
PCR is lighter due to frame being aluminum. Decocker.
P-01 is basically a PCR with a rail.

You live in a hot and humid area and the recommended the P-09 for concealed carry? I carry mine appendix and it the fuckhuge grip will print a little with just a shirt, but I would recommend the P-7 or one of CZ's compact metal offerings, if you're set on a CZ that is.

Give it ten more years or so and I bet Glocks will not be as popular. Keep in mind that it was only ten years ago that the m&p 9 came out, so there are still plenty of cops, instructors, and regular shooters out there from the time when the only lightweight, hi capacity, ultrareliable pistol was the glock. But I agree it's annoying as hell when people say just get a glock to a new shooter as if they don't deserve or are not competent enough to use the features they really want.

Another myth. People think they need a fuckin Rohrbaugh so they get one and then never shoot it. Instead they take their Mk 23 to the range and never actually learn how to use their carry pistol.

Get something of reasonable size. Also get something you will shoot and train with a lot. Don't listen to the people who think you can't carry anything larger than a J-frame. It's bullshit. I have concealed several different full-size, double stack .45s at different times with no printing or anything. You just have to find the right spot on your body.

I would argue that the P-09 is nearly too big for concealment. I carry it in the appendix style shown in the picture and the end of the grip will print but not enough to really be noticeable. If I position the gun where the green circle is it would conceal with no printing if I had a better belt and no gut. That buckle area of the belt is unsupported and more likely to sag with the weight of the grip and fitting the holster around the tip of the belt coming out of the buckle is annoying. Carrying strong side is a printing nightmare. If you stand straight up and keep your arm down it's fine, but any twisting or bending and it's like a big fucking sign on your side saying I've Got A Gun. But that's just with a T shirt, strong side works well that the P-09 if you've got an overshirt or jacket. I threw in a comparison of the grip lengths of the P-09 and Glock 21 and picture that shows how thoughtful CZ is, making a gun for 7 fingered people.

Guns, like all weapons or armor sets, are ruled by certain universal truths - that is, there is a natural hierarchy . As such, a gun that is deemed "better" will confer increased skill to it's wielder and increased damage to it's target. Past generations relied upon their own physical experiences, or at best observation of others experiences to determine this hierarchy, but now with the internet, one can become a master of gun knowledge merely by delving into the depths of youtube or by detailed conversation with other gun enthusiasts with encyclopedic knowledge of weapons. Physical experience is relegated to the dustbin of history, as it should be.

Obviously you have developed a such a skill level that you have moved beyond a glock's capabilities; you have realized through extensive research that the glock itself is mechanically holding you back.

Not only this, but by your post I can tell that you are a man with a more refined sense of aesthetics, and require a gun more fitting to a gentleman such as yourself.

Might I suggest you purchase a H&K? I think it's just your style.

Conversely, perhaps you should consider that as a new shooter, lacking experience or knowledge, their opinions aren't really worth shit, and they should be started down the right path by someone who knows better.

I can see where you're coming from, but I think it's across the board better to let newbies do the things they want at the start. If you start a noob on something they don't want because instructor knows best they're going to be more likely to just quit. I've seen it happen a few times with guitar students, they want to play their favorite songs and the teacher just hands them chords and scales to practice and it doesn't take them long to quit.

I don't have a problem with giving people suggestions, but it bugs me when people think their opinion is the right way, like a new pistol shooter starts on a glock and new rifle shooter starts on a .22. Especially when a lot of the time the "people who know better" are just using their title and and experience to pass as fact what is only their opinion.

Plus, these days everyone's and expert because they read about it on the internet, from some other guy became an expert from reading about it on the internet.

Nothing enrages me more than people giving advice with no experience.

You see the same thing on weightlifting forums. Someone asks for a starting routine, gets told two or three proven routines for newbies, then immediately starts asking if he can modify it or do this or that too it, because he has unique needs you see, and even though he's a new guy, he's read all about it on the internet.

I rarely give advice anymore to people at the gym or the range because 9/10 times they won't take it. Too much ego. If they do, they eventually begin the process of exiting the dunning-kruger effect by realizing exactly how much they don't know, and how much they thought they knew was bullshit.
This is the first stage of advancement.

Now I can totally get behind that. Hell that kind of thinking keeps the gun industry alive. So yeah, that's a really good reason to start a noob on a basic glock. Show them a few videos on what people can do with it and tell them to practice.

Seals are ISSUED them, and most ditch them for Glocks or HK's of various sorts, mainly the 21SF and 45C respectively.

For a new guy asking for general advice, yes.
Thus it spares me all the questions of "how do I get sights for my special snowflake gun" or "where can I buy a replacement spring for this gun that doesn't have aftermarket support" and so on.

If someone is looking to get into shooting, I recommend getting the gun that is 1.common 2. reliable and 3. has the largest aftermarket support in the given area.

In the US that happens to be the glock. In eastern europe, I would recommending something else. Thirty years ago, it would be a 1911.

I am a skills guy. I am not a collecter guy. Most people think they want to get into shooting, when what they really want is to own lots of cool objects, talk about them, and show them off. Gaining skill is not a large part of their Gun experience.

I honestly give no shits about what someone ends up using or liking. I've been around long enough that I don't give a shit to hear opinions from people who don't know what the fuck they're talking about.

Recommending a gun with a 5.5 pound trigger pull and no mechanical safety, that you have dry fire to disassemble as the perfect gun for new shooters has always seemed backwards as fuck to me. I'd recommend the FNX-9. pic is an FNS-9 but I saved it before realizing you posted a hammer fire, if you want a striker the FNS and VP9 (if you fancy shooting yourself in the leg) are the new standards, m&p's are cool but need to step it up. Sig has some new thing too but I can't take them seriously with that retardedly high bore axis. Glocks... are just arcane.

Don't listen to this faggot, if your going to be carrying all day, you need something you're going to actually carry and not leave at home because it's fuckhuge and uncomfortable.
A good holster makes a huge difference, and concealing a fullsize pistol isn't impossible, but if you're buying knowing in advance that concealed carry is a primary role of your pistol, it will ultimately come down to your specific needs.

Where on your body are you planning on carrying? I assume IWB, but at what position? If you're fairly set on a "compact"/full size doublestack, then your real question will be what holster and at what position.
