>>27680598For Drill Sergeants it is different.
Again you can volunteer for the duty or be DA Selected for the duty. Any MOS (except 79S Career Counselor who must volunteer) can be DA selected for Drill Sergeant.
At Fort Leonard Wood, Fort Sill and Fort Jackson where so-called POG basic training occurs you will find various NCO's serving as Drill Sergeants. By army regulation 25% of the total drill sergeant cadre at Fort Leonard Wood, Fort Sill and Fort Jackson must be from MOS 11 series (11B/C) or 18 series (A/B/C/D/E) while the cadre at Fort Benning Sand Hill must be 100% MOS 11 series or 18 series for Infantry OSUT or at Fort Benning Harmony Church MOS 19 series for Armor/Cav Scout OSUT (that is no other MOS may serve as a Drill Sergeant at those locations).
So a recruit who signed up to be a supply MOS attending basic training at Relaxin' Jackson may find his three drill sergeants hold MOS of 92F (Petroleum Supply Specialist), 88M (Motor Transport Specialist) and 11B (Infantryman) while an 11X recruit at Sand Hill in Fort Benning may have three 11B drill sergeants.
