Lever action general?

How practical is a lever action for innawoods? I know 'guide gun' slang tends to include them. What's the LARGEST commonly available round lever actions can be chambered in?

What's the ideal round for innawoods? Should be able to take down a bear

Lastly, I know you're only supposed to use wadcutter/truncated rounds to they don't set off the primers while in the tube mag, right?

Bighorn Armory makes a .500 S&W lever carbine and rifle.

They also make a .460 S&W, but I don't know if it can shoot .454 and .45 Colt

.45-70 Government. Common, large, hits like a bus. A lever action guide gun in .45-70 will be plenty compact but with enough power to take down whatever it is that needs taking down.

.30-30 would work on a bear in a pinch. Just hit him in the vitals.

Lever actions aren't going anywhere, they'll always be good for innawoods.

I have a 99 in .250 Savage. I went to the range one day and found it sitting on a bench. Spent a few hours shooting and nobody ever came back for it, so I took it.

It's a pretty neat rifle, never fired it. No one around here sells .250-3000. I'd really like to sell it just becasue while it's a nice gun I don't feel like having to special order ammo for it.
