Some fights the US gov't fights are not appropriate for the military or civilian police to fight.

The US gov't does some weird shit and they make some back-door under-the-table type arrangements with foreign governments.

One thing to consider, the Mexican Cartels are far more powerful and wealthy than most people realize. 200 million dollars in profit, each day. That's the GNP of some countries, you think that fight is all hapless Mexican soldiers in fatigues and border patrol and DEA and Arizona state troopers?

I think its to do with the fact that the military has to follow certain rules whereas "civilians" dont.

an army unit going into countries we aren't at war with all the time and doing shit like this:

would create a lot of legal issues. the US can just deny its involvement if shit hits the fan. (they call this a DELTA op on the video but it was more than likely SAD).

they do deep undercover shit using civilian registered aircraft etc. and nothing to distinguish them as american. They are a tool we can use yet completely deny. A Delta unit would fly in using stealth blackhawks---- a SAD unit would fly in using unregistered MI-17s or Jetrangers.... or hell, even DC-3s.
