/k/, i want to put a red dot on my M&P, but it seems like everyone who can mill the slide wants like $350 bucks for it, not to mention the $600 red dot.

My question is this. what is the most affordable way to get a slide integrated quality red dot with useable back up iron sights?

You could cut down on the $600 dot by getting a Burris Fastfire or something. Even the Docter ones are fairly inexpensive.

You can send the slide anywhere. Find someone who will do it more reasonably. Going price for slide milling is like $150. After all, they just have to end-mill one area flat and drill and tap some mounting holes.

As for cheaper optics, you can pick up a Burris FF for like $180, a JPoint for $210, and Docters for about $350. Ignore Trijicon and Leupold until they get their shit together in regards to pricing.

I was really hoping they'd keep the DeltaPoint "look" and just fix the dumb things they did with it. Then they just went and made it more like the RMR.

How'd this not occur to you immediately?

Also the cheapest reasonable quality dot you're going to find is a Burris Fastfire of one generation or another. Check the C.O.R.E. adapter plates to see which ones are compatible, cause I don't feel like digging mine out of the closet.

Friends I am going to sell my m&p with 3 mags, a streamlight flashlight/lazer, and 2 holsters. Probably 500 rounds through it. You can get the gun at academy for like 470. Is 420 a fair price for my setup?

I fucked up and didnt buy a core.My current M&P is well loved, and has an apex trigger in it. So i have $600 in the gun, I could realistically sell it for $500, CORE extended slide is like $750 after tax, so im out $250, and have to buy another apex trigger, so im down $350 anyways, and after all that I could have just got my damn pistol milled without playing musical guns

I'm not that guy, but the price of putting a red dot on a pistol is a little high. I've been wanting to do it but for that much money I need to know if it's worth it or not first. I've only found one test to see if it improves shooting but it was done with noobs, and the area of improvement was faster target acquisition. But for someone who is experienced and has no problem following the front sight I don't see the red dot actually giving any improvement in shooting.

Bro, are you trying to sabotage yourself or are you so wrapped up in your brainless aspergers that you can't see the simple, cheap, logical path through what you're making out to be a horrible ordeal? You're talking about paying more for a second-rate aftermarket product with tanked value as compared to a cheaper, better factory product that's exactly what you want and will not reduce in value because you milled it. And you're adding a longslide requirement on top of this? The regular 4.25" CORE is $600 new on GUNBROKER, so it's even cheaper elsewhere.
