In the market for a truck gun. I do a lot of offroading/camping in the mountains. I'm leaning towards a Remington 870 or Mossberg

Wow, so at a maximum it will be 11 months and 30 whole days until you can get a pistol.

Unless you're getting PGO 870 or 500, pretty shit "truck guns" even with 18.5" barrels. Under/Side folder AK will be better. Or a mares leg lever action (cannot remember legal definition of these, fairly certain they are still considered rifles).

And when you turn 21, on a completely unrelated note-- Ruger Charger pistols and 10/22 takedowns have no differences in their receivers to prevent any illicit use of the two in conjunction as SBR's. So you should definitely not put a Charger barrel on a 10/22 takedown stock.

That is something you should not do.
