Looking for some opinions on switching from a single stack to a double as my CCW.

I currently carry a ruger lc9, but I can't seem to shoot any single stack babby guns very well. My major concern is mass shootings and if the shooter is more than 7 yards away I'm not confident in my ability to hit him, especially under stress. So I'm thinking of switching to a compact (been looking at the fns9c, have the full-size and love it). I also never carry my spare mag anyway, so a compact forces me to carry more rounds. Sounds like I should definitely make the switch right? Problem: I'm a pretty slim dude, my waist is about 30". Is this a full retard idea to try to conceal a compact? I was thinking of putting a clipdraw on it to save bulk.

Any input is appreciated, especially on the fns9c if anyone owns it.
