All it stands for is to enforce a monopoly on an idea or information. And as such it goes against the spirit of cooperation. If you want a world where it the default stance would be "homo homini lupus est", then go ahead and hide behind the silly arbitrary obstacle of progress.
And by the way if someone wanted to copy your design, they could reasonably reverse engineer your screenshot.
Or they could design their own bullpup receiver. And sell it. In larger quantities than you could ever produce. And you could not do anything about it.
And I would be so glad if that would happen to you, merely because you dared to utter the words "intelectuall property" in a way that makes you actually agree with it.
