As a reenactor, I will tell you the money is in making German stuff.
There is a lot of original American gear available and lots of companies making quality great like At The Front. I have an original 1923 cartridge belt that I paid like 30 or 40 bucks for.

It will be more difficult than you think. Lots of waste and failed prototypes. That 2 yards will dwindle faster than you think. I could help by showing and measuring my cartridge belt but I'm getting the feeling that your a bit of a dick.
