>>27698464>What do you mean by "shoot the throat out?"The throat is the start of the rifling of the barrel just past the chamber. By the heat of the powder charge and friction of the projectile being jammed into the rifling and down the barrel this is the area of the barrel that wears the fastest.
Once the throat wears out enough, the flame front from the powder can actually move around the projectile and start down the barrel before the projectile seals into the rifling which accelerates the wear further via gas cutting.
So not only is the effectively rifled portion of the barrel getting shorter, but the amount of pressure behind the projectile starts to vary shot to shot from loss of sealing resulting in accuracy loss from velocity differences in addition to any losses from wear on the rifling further down the barrel.
>how likely is an untreated bore to corrode and shit when not cleaning it even after shooting mucky shit like tulammoTulammo is dirty, but the powder isn't any worse for the barrel than other brands when it comes to corrosion. What will be a difference though is the bi-metal projectiles they use. Since they are steel jacketed that is only copper washed as opposed to copper jacketed, they will wear the rifling faster. Copper jacketed projectiles alone are worth something like 20-30% more barrel life over bi-metal steel jackets
