So fellow /k/ommandos, if AK's came with a standard left-hand charging handle instead of the right, would you consider that to be an improvement? Why or why not?

Also, general STALKER thread so post all the cheeki breeki you can handle. Anyone got the "Straight Outta Here STALKER" one?

And why's that? More of an ergonomics type thing?

General question, would you have to worry about cases hitting you in the face if you are a righty with a left charging AK? The lefty with the AUG giving him a brass facial comes to mind, but would that only be a problem for bullpups?

Depends. I haven't really done any other mods with STALKER than complete, but it was pretty decent. It's nice having some updated graphics and the actual weapon names. The damage modifier for SOC was nice since guys didn't take like 30 hits to put down.

That being said, I haven't done any other mods so I can't really say how it stacks up compared to those ones.

It's mainly visuals, bugfixes, AIm and general balance. I like it alot but no its not one of those mods that flesh out the game to an extreme.

Agreed. If you are looking to ensure a more bug-free and better looking game, this is the way to go. If you are looking for some specific experience that is more realistic, you will have to look elsewhere. Basically it is a much more polished version of vanilla STALKER and worth trying if you aren't looking to do anything too crazy. Installation is super easy too since you can download it with an installer as a part of the mod.

Arsenal is awesome, Misery I enjoyed in spite of all the things retarded about it (like bullet-sponge, dead accurate zombies and retarded economy). After 2.0 I dropped it though, fully fucking shit in 2.0

Complete mods are HORRIBLE.
Not only are they totally OBSOLETE, they also make ALL the games casual-level easy. Not to mention they can break tons of shit as well.

If you want "vanilla 2.0", get STARTER PACKs.

This is bullshit as well. Complete actually LOWERS all damage values.

Also any human NPC goes down with a single shot to the head, in pure vanilla. If you need to spam body-shots, use rifles and AP rounds.

I'm seriously shocked ANYONE is recommending fucking COMPLETE mods, in 2015! /vg/ would weep, I certainly do.

Consult this Starting Guide,
then see the /vg/'s huge Stalker General for more tips and links: >>>/vg/stalker

Play in the release order. Start with no mods - only latest patch, OR get the full "Starter Pack" first; these contain bug-fixers and light visual mods that can help performance as well.
Leave big overhauls for later playthrougs. Avoid the "Complete" -mods. Always play on MASTER difficulty for best realism and atmosphere, and disable crosshair.

Don't give up in the beginning! The starting gear sucks ass and first area is quite boring.
