Could use some help.

Piecing my rifle together online right now.

Essentially

>Anderson lower
>PSA LPK
>BCM Mod 3 Grip
>Magpul MOE Stock kit
>BCM QD Endplate
>Brownells Premium Barrel 16" mid length
>basic bitch gas tube, gas block, and dust cover
>Aero Precision upper
>AIM Nitride BCG
>BCM Mod 4 Charging Handle
>BCM Mod 3 VFG
>DD Fixed Front Sight
>free A2 birdcage

For a rail I was considering the new BCM KMR Alpha since it's drastically cheaper, should be stronger, and is only 2oz heavier.

Not sure what rear sight I want yet, something flip up, but not sure from there.

For an optic I was gonna do a PA Advanced on an American Defense QD mount.

Light was probably gonna be a Surefire G2X unless there's another light in the similar price range that's good/better.

Can you lower 1/3 cowitness with a TRS-25?
Some guys on /k/ say you cant because the emitter is in the way.

But that doesnt make sense because Bushnell sells a 1" hirise mount for lower 1/3

Anyone have an experience with the KMR Alpha, or are they too new? Any other good looking rail for $200 worth looking at?

What rear sight should I get? I'll probably use it for a couple months before I get an optic so I'll want something nice but not gucci tier expensive.

As long as you're conscious of where it is it shouldn't be a problem. One of the places I shoot is a buddy's tree farm (he's an arborist/landscaper/whatever) and his property is littered with irrigation piping and all kinds of fun stuff used in the cultivation of trees, and I've never had a problem. Obviously gas is a bit different, but the short of it is this: just don't shoot it.

The KMR Alphas has been out for less than 2 weeks, so anyone who does have any experience with it doesn't have enough to really be recommending it, at least not as far as I see it.

As for BUIS, MBUS sights are really good for their price. They're not super gucci, but there are more expensive, less effective options out there. If you can't go with the MBUS Pros, the standards are still damn fine.

As for the Surefire G2X? They're damn good lights for around $70. I'd definitely go for one.

The only thing on an AR worth spending any appreciable money on is the barrel, handguard, trigger, optics, and maybe the bolt. The buttstock is preference, but nothing special.

Starting out on a basic bitch AR with any set of iron sights that hold a zero is fine.

With bullets concerning the 5.56, is it the bullet weight or the bullet length that determines whether it is stabilized?

Ex...855 and 855a1, both the same weights but very different lengths. Would a 1/9 barrel be able to stabilize both?

Reposting for gi mags. I googled exhaustively but never found a concrete advantage of usgi magazines over pmags, other than "they're sometimes $0.50 - $1.00 cheaper". Most people stressed the anti-tilt follower as an improvement but really everything about the pmag was better, it was super smooth and sturdy feeling.

As far as i can tell the top quality usgi mags are "okay industries" which were also made for colt (anything with the colt pony baseplate and body text). I've had FTF with mine because they're old and beat to shit, and the followers are stiff. Pmags are flawless so far.

I keep my gi mags for photos and plinking though.

Strong color coordination with some healthy wear, I like that, the fold down sight is good, even the sling matches. Only gripes I have is you need to paint your scope mount, and that light looks like it was rigged on in the 90s with a metal tie or something.

Don't worry about what qb is saying, he doesn't even shoot his guns suppressed. Only use the chamfered spacer if youre installing the muzzle devices on a pencil barrel, like the scar.

On pencil barrels you would use the spacer only for the sfmb and their warcomp. If youre installing the sf3p then just spin it on and it will index off the muzzle.

If youre using the warcomp on a barrel that has a mating shoulder, which yours does, then you should be fine. If you plan on shooting with a can just check for bore alignment before you shoot since the threads could be cut non-concentric to the bore, which may cause baffle strikes.

If someone doubts me that you have to use the chamfered spacer I'll be glad to take photos of all my rifles that have burnt carbon on them. I think I may have 2 rifles that I used the chamfered spacer on, and that was before I found out it wasn't necessary. The first rifle is my scar17 with the sf3p and the other is my 10.5" ar pistol which I used because I incorrectly read the instructions. I've installed 7 different muzzle devices on my rifles and haven't had an issue with any of them.

*note that on 1 of the muzzle devices I haven't shot thru the barrel since it is a replacement for my AIAT.

I'll be heading out to work soon, but if need be I can take a photo of my stuff in the next ar gen thread when I get back home.

FYI the chamfered washer is there because because not all muzzle threads are relief cut, there is sometimes a small radius at the base of the threads that can make the muzzle device non-concentric.

dude with the warcomp, pic related is a better view of a relief cut. regardless of whether your bbl has this or not if you mount a suppressor always check for bore alignment before shooting. if you see clearance issues obviously don't shoot

help me out /arg/, I got two problems

1. I built (assembled, calm your autism) an m16A4 clone to train with, and while most things one it are perfect, the trigger pull is off. The trigger is nice, but I want the feel I get from my service rifle. Does anyone know what I can do to make my trigger pull closer to my service rifle? I would honestly go with toolcraft bcg from psa as unmarked premium bcg. Toolcraft is god teir bcg maker.

Myself i have ar with exact round count of 1670rds with any failure. Of that 1670rds the first 500rds was fired dusty bone dry. The large majority of its diet was steel case. This ar is built with Anderson lower and psa lpk and psa upper.

You seem to have read the manual, yet you still post >>27693942. If you had read the manual you would note where it states "If included with shim kit." You then either assumed his kit did come with one, even though you never saw his individual kit or you believed his barrel had a relief cut which would have dictated the use of the chamfered spacer. He never showed photos of his install kit or barrel, yet you still chose to tell him he installed it incorrectly.

I believed it that he could have received a kit where a spacer was not received, which is possible and is shown as possible in the manual that you just posted. I also believed that if he had a relief cut his armorer friend would have told him about that and the possibility for a misalignment. Since he didn't state that either I believed he had no need for the chamfered spacer.

What does the term slightly offset mean? How do you know that he didn't time the warcomp to be set with his natural point of aim? I do that with some of my brakes for that very reason. Do they look a little offset when straight up and down, yes, however when I put the rifle into my pocket it levels out perfectly.

I've had 7 and 1 came without a spacer. if you go on fnforum you can read of others having that same issue with their kits not having a spacer either.

And I've seen that video as well. The only reason why he is installing it on his barrel is because it has a 'tiny little radius between the threads and the barrel shoulder' If you don't have that relief cut/ radius as he calls it then you don't need the spacer.

FN make alot alot alot barrels for PSA like maybe 90% of PSA barrels are FN the rest would be wilson.

Psa receive no blank barrel all completed. PSA doesnt even roll mark the barrel the "5.66NATO 1/7 PALMETTO BLAH BLAH BLAH" is rolled by fn the fn also cut the gas port.

PSA send the spec to FN and FN make it to PSA'sspec

I'll post pictures when I get home from work. The brake has the 6 slots set to fire evenly at the 1 o'clock and at the 11 oclock positions. It is set to just push the gasses straight up and at the 1 and 11 directions.

.223 Wylde is a chamber/barrel, not a caliber.
It was made to shoot both 5.56 and .223 accurately.

in .223 the lands are further back, which could cause pressure spikes with 5.56
wylde is cut somewhere in between, which SUPPOSEDLY gives better accuracy with .223 while still shooting 5.56 ok

I just finished my first AR build (pistol, 10.5" barrel) and it has the standard "bird cage" flash hider on it. Took it out shooting for the first time ad this thing shoots fireballs. Is this just going to be something I need to get used to, or is there a flash hider out there that works much more effectively?
