Looking to purchase a new knif for hunting, fishing, general purposes, etc...

Would like /k/'s opinion on which of these few you'd recommend.

The lmf-II while not a perfect knife is the only Gerber knife I would buy.

Used to work at a knife counter at a big box store. All the Herbert's I handles felt flimsy, and the steel seemed poor. Lmf-II isn't excellent steel, but is easy enough to sharpen and pretty robust. It's about 3/4 tang, probably a bit more, but insulated invade you need to cut through live wires. The "hammer" is useless but eh glass breaker seems like it would work. Serrations in general are hit or miss but this was made to be an egress knife primarily so I can see why they added them. It's been proven in general enough that I would call it a good knife. I prefer my Falkniven over it but that's just me.

I would save some money and buy a Fallkniven S1 or F1. In my case S1 for the /k/factor.

If you look into it and consider it, I strongly recommend the plastic sheath and no coating.

If you want the knife to hunt and skin, I also strongly recommend that you get an uncoated knife. Knife coatings are toxic as fuck and they always stain what you're cutting.

Or perhaps look into an old (discontinued) Seal Pup without serrations.

Anyways, there are many better choices for what you want that are not on your list.

Sounds like something the marketing team came up with to explain away the lack of full tang. Is this ever a real thing? Even for emergency workers?

Yes it is, but realistically speaking, it only works with low voltage wires.

It is true in that they really designed it for that, but I dont really know how well that works.

If you're cutting something strong you gonna get fried anyways, and an arc can be forme from the blade to the butt anyways.

All EODs or people who have to cut electrical things use non-conductive knives made from fancy stuff like titanium
