Got this today. Paid $450. Debating if I should build it to a complete SP1 or just buy a complete SP1 and use this as a beater. Finding a barrel is fairly difficult... And the cost of an SP1 lower is laughable at least by GunBrokers prices. Looks like I ought to wait until next gun show. I don't know what to do.

I'm building a pipe shotgun with a simple trigger. Trying to figure it all out but here's the idea for the trigger. Will probably make a cocking rod like a caulking gun has with a spring. Lock breech, cock, fire.

I've got two of the neatest parts kits on the way, I'll tell you what one of them is if you ask nicely.

Worked on this a little last week, it l functions good just needs to clean up and fit the side panels. The FCG linkage is the most ghetto thing I've ever made

I'm finding out how hilariously bad I am at applying tru-oil for the 10th billion time on an old .22 I've been trying to work on forever.

Without fail I will find a clumped spot on this layer as well, and end up buffing it down past 1 layer in attempt to remove it.

OP HERE. Wanted to bump due to the uzi discussion. They are exetremely easy. and if you have a welder, easier than an AK. First, but a demilled kit from sarco, apex, etc...
second, buy semi auto parts
third, Go to Global machine and tool Co and buy yourself a fullsize UZI repair section.

All you need to do with this repair section is trim both ends then weld in place!!!
super fucking easy, done 3 already.

I have a question regarding bolt-gap on HK rifles.

the bolt-gap on my rifle measured greater than .025" Does bolt-gap shrink once you start shooting? or is this something I need to correct with a barrel repress or new rollers?

bolt gap does shrink as you start shooting and as things wear in. What rifle is it? on an mp5 hk94 you may be able to get away with it as is. With hk51 or 53 probably not. I'd recommend changing the rollers to -4 and measure see if its closer

The rifle in question is an HK33. I made sure the bolt was fully locked and dry fired like the G3 armorers manual said to do. I also used one of those HK chamber face cleaning brushes to get the barrel face as clean as possible.

I also discovered that I had some -8 rollers on me. I installed those, took the gun to the range and fired some rounds through it, and right now the bolt gap is currently measured at .014" - .013"

Califag here, the only gunmith in town has a 7day waiting list (left my 870 with him to mount some wilson combat ghost rings) nearest one after him is like 15miles away. Fucking feels bad makes me want to be a gunsmith. They make decent money from what i seen. But you do deal with a shit load of stupid shit. I think vector started making them with the semi only parts and they just became the industry standard for semi uzis. similar to the rear shelves on ar15's

I'm not sure about apex's kits. I got my uzi kits from copes when they had them for a killer deal

if you are planning on learning start with mig or tig. don't both with flux core for guns.

First step is finding a demilled parts kit with two intact front trunnions.
buy the global machine tool receiver. it is pre-bent and has all holes and everything already done to it. ALL you need to do is weld the trunnions onto the pre-bent repair section. no extra metal or anything. after that weld on the grip log, barrel ramp, front grip post, and denial bar.

it's seriously that easy. actually easier than the redneck engineer's blog post, because only two weld joints front and back instead of like 5. ill try to find a suitable kit for you. Remember that you are building a closed bolt from an original open bolt machine gun. You will either need to buy a closed semi bolt, or machine the new one( much more difficult)

thread's onto where the barrel nut normally goes. the suppressor will retain the barrel. this is the normal way, and the ugly way is thread the barrel for 1/2x28

Green mountain rifle barrels makes brand new chromelined uzi barrels. With the RTG front trunnion you will need the full auto barrel which is fine, but you will need to pin and weld an extension or SBR it.

1/2x28 is industry standard for .22 cans, 5.56 cans, 9mm cans, and a lot more. Go find a threaded barrel for any non-hk 9mm handgun and it will probably be 1/2x28.

full auto has a fixed firing pin and is meant to be fired from the open bolt. (when you pull the trigger the whole bolt slams forward at once)

semi has a spring loaded striker and fires on the closed bolt ( when you pull the trigger the striker comes forward and hits the primer)
semi also has a slot milled into the right side to allow it to clear the blocking bar and move freely in a semi reciever. auto does not.

open bolt is an extremely simple operation. the bolt moves forward and back with no other moving parts besides the trigger mechanism. any open bolt is also classified as a machine gun here in the us. even if they are set up as semi only.

By buying a semi automatic uzi bolt, it allows the same trigger mechanism to be uzi on the striker instead of the entire bolt. this converts it to a legal closed bolt gun .

Currently reselling the receiver, the trigger needs worked on for semi auto only, and sadly my mill isn't working as of now...so it's gonna be a nice long while. If you want a much easier time for milling it out there is no real reason not to. Be warned the buffer tube is much more fragile because of the polymer not being as strong but it should be fine if you're not buttstroking or using it as a bat.

I've heard top breaks do have their issues. Still, they're pretty neat-o. Is it that the cylinder slowly degrades and eventually stops sealing all the way? That's what I've heard.

I have a meatball already, but I've been asking this question long before I actually got any guns and way before I got a real life meatball. I just like to see what answers I get when I ask. Also notice the hammer lining up with the top cylinder. It's not a very good design overall. Although the Rhino has a type of false hammer that's all sorts of fucked, but could still be used here I guess.

I have 3 of those poly 80s. I got mine for 45 each btw. I haven't had any problems and even run one with a slidefire stock. you just have to be careful about not getting cleaners and solvents on the lower. just pop the pins, remove and then clean

Most gunsmiths already have a backlog of easy shit like tapping scopes and threading barrels, there is no way to get one to go through the trouble of designing a whole new gun unless you are talking at least 50,000 worth of incentive up front and that would probably be just a down payment.

My advice would be to study the shit out of gun design and solidworks then spend a couple thousand in CNC time to make your dream a reality because that's the only way for it to happen.

Totally legal for personal use.

If it's the serialized component of a restricted firearm, you need to register it.

If it's a new design, you need to have it approved by the CFP.

Yeah, thanks for the advice, I've also heard pretty much the same thing in regards to getting someone else to do it. It's not really any obsession anymore. It kind of was back before I had real guns (I'm fairly young and that show is old as fuck, leave me alone). Since getting a real meatball, I honestly like it better than some fictional gun sorta kinda based on this real design, but takes it to a whole new level of fuckery. Guess I can stop asking that question now, I just like hearing different opinions on actually making it a reality.

Is it worth buying an m53 parts kit and trying to fix it up.

It would be possible to design one around Chiappa guts and cylinder, which would be the most irritating to machine because of the small parts.

You should only fire gallery loads but that should be fine for essentially a prop.
