How do you make a proper Molotov /k/? Me and a few friends have been trying to cook up one but so far they burn for about a minute before going out. We mostly put gasoline and used car oil in them.

P.S We do all our testing away from anything that can catch on fire and we can't hurt anyone, but ourselves.

Anyway, what you described is a proper molotov. It's not napalm, so unless you're throwing it at something flammable it's not going to burn for days.

Proffesional style molotov.
>1 x glass bottle
>1 x rag
>1 × condom
>Bottles worth of the accelerant of your choice.

Make a small cut in the condom.
Thread accelerant soaked rag through small cut.
Fill bottle approx 3/4 full.
Push rag into bottle.till the condom is almost completely inside the bottle.
Grab rin of condom and tie around the neck of the bottle.
You now have a molotov cocktail.
Condom lessens chance of the rag coming free before impact.
If you want to get fancy, stuff a few handfulls of packing peanuts in the bottle with the petrol. Now you have somthing pretty similar to napalm.
Source: i had to make a couple dozen a few years back during riot training to through at our shield waĺl. We used VB tallys for the bottles and petrol for the accelrant.

Make a mixture of gas and Styrofoam. Makes an almost gel like napalm substance that will stick to damn near anything you throw it at and burns for a good while. Funnel it into old wine bottles. Put half your rag in the bottle. Cork it up with half your rag hanging out the bottle. Soak rag in gas or lighter fluid before you throw. Make sure it breaks. Profit

Try adding little bits of different kinds of styrofoam to your gas/oil mix. It won't completely dissolve, but the plastic in it will stay burning for a long time and give off a ton of smoke. Also bear in mind that the idea of a Molotov isn't to do a ton of damage by itself - pipe bombs might be a better direction if that's what you're going for - but to scare/intimidate and possibly catch surroundings on fire.

It does congeal into a sort of goop though, it takes a suprsing amount, but I have burned some before and it goes a lot longer than you'd think (bout 1/3 of a water bottle of gas made a clump that burned for about 4 minutes) and it seems very sticky, in other words I wouldn't want to be hit by one.

I have no earthly idea, the ATF can be (by that I mean usually is) pants on head retarded about rulings.

Like that brace thing they put out recently, I have no idea and I'm absoultely not a lawyer so don't take my take on it as true.

My take on it is that you have to have a completely assembled molotov for it to count, adding a cork and tying a rag would make it into one I think. Just like how shouldering a brace now makes an AR pistol an SBR according to them. I kind of think of unfinished molotovs as those hollowed out grenades- unless you add powder, a fuse, and seal it up/get it ready to explode it isn't a DD. (again, my take, don't take that as gospel)

I totally don't leave bottles around with gas-soaked rags casually stuffed into them. Never actually occured to me that such an arrangement is basically a molotov.

Ok anon I'm gonna help you out but this is the last time:

1. Glass bottle
2. Cork or other material to prevent contents of bottle form spilling out and turning you into the human torch
3. Kerosene soaked rag wrapped around neck of bottle
4. Jet-A or AVGAS to fill your bottle -- you want to use this because it will melt steel beams

And a method of igniting your rag.

you know, 4 M HCL doesnt really do anything to your skin unless you leave it on there for quite a long time. It will still produce a large amount of white vapor when mixed but it wont burn you if it cracks. Itching and skin irriation yes, but nothing dangerous,

Upon throwing his molotov at his intended target, he quickly realized wine bottles are fairly robust when it failed to break. Determined to smash the little bastard, he retrieved it, wound up for an overhand power throw, and proceeded to dump burning gasoline down his back. Fortunately for him he was wearing nomex, and there was a fire engine about three feet away with its pump running. he didn't even realize he was on fire till he got hit with 100 psi from an 1 and 3/4" hose pumping out class A foam. we all had a good laugh.
