Good brands/recommendations for plate carriers?

In Canada myself so having some trouble finding a good carrier/collar/yoke kit

Got a full Interceptor set few years ago from Ebay, for mere 100 bucks. Slapped in some German IV plates I got for another 100.

Good all-around protection, and has MOLLE loops for basic pouches.

I use to have a Blackhawk OTV and it was a decent carrier, but is really outclassed by anything available now. Are you looking for a plate carrier or armor carrier? Budget?

Considering I keep stumbling upon the Blackhawk brand everywhere with solid reviews, it seems like something I can easily upgrade

We're on /k/. The odds of someone here buying a plate carrier + plates + wearing it during a shooting + having it save their life are already microscopic.

Also, extra knife/shrapnel protection.

500 for just the carrier will get you some gucci kit. 500 for carrier, soft armor, and plate not so much. If it is the former, then brands like Crye Precision, First Spear, Eagle Industries, Velocity Systems, LBT, etc are all within reach. If it is the latter, then the newer USGI surplus is pretty gud too for the price. Just avoid that KDH plate carrier. I have a surplus USMC Eagle Industries SPC that has sewn in body armor. Love it and the price was right at 250.
