So a week or so ago there was a flare gun thread, and an anon posted this pic. It's a 26.5 mm flare gun with a 12 gauge insert for a pistol cartridge.
In order for him to make that work he had to take a 12 gauge flare insert and drill out the constriction in order to put the pistol barrel in it.
My question is this: Does the aluminum insert that can chamber a 12 gauge shell make the flare gun an AOW, DD, or SBS even if there's never any intention of using it as a shotgun, or would that part just be considered part of manufacturing a pistol, which would be completed with the pistol caliber barrel?
If it would just be considered part of the construction, I think this would make an awesome SHTF gun. You'd have a single shot pistol that could take 9 different calibers (if you also count the .410/.45lc insert), which would make trading for ammo easier. Plus the 8- inch barrel for a little more accuracy. I'm intrigued.
