>>27714097>Its like saying Charlie Brown needed serious emotional themesCharlie brown HAD serious emotional themes. Depression. Anxiety. Flirtation with asbergers syndrome. Hypocrisy as a basic part of humanity. Public scorn. The author used the comic as a way to comment about things that genuinely unnerved him without becoming melodramatic.
>infinitely more serious than it was ever intended to beI never said I was trying to make saving Private Ryan an anime. I said I wanted it to be accurate. No fuddisms, no "sekret plans", no " I'm an expert because the internet told me so".
The goal is to make the reader go "huh, that's interesting" or "TIL upporte:good edition actually simulates it's military scenarios in realistic ways."
The more you know about its subject matter, the more you like the show, as it gains depth the more you watch it or know yourself.
Just like how Dr strangelove avoided the cliché of "serious" military films by being humorous about serious situations, I intend to make educated comments about weaponry, the military, history and tactics while also not improperly mixing two themes like GATE did, or falling into the "this is a serious anime because cute girls are being killed" trope.
Trust me, I understand you concerns. I hate that shit too.
