>>27701123>playing both sidesWhich is one of the benefits of neutrality. The Swiss knew that if they just hunkered down and didn't communicate with anyone outside the country, they would all starve to death. They had regular dealings with both the Nazis and the Allies but never (at least, as far as I know) did they let any other country's soldiers into the borders.
Can you show me where you got your information? When were they giving save harbor to the Allies? And which Allies in particular?
>>27701133No sir, you have no idea how they maintained their neutrality. A lot of what happened was dumb luck, the Nazis were just a few steps from invading right when they moved in on the Soviets. The fight with the Soviets was much more than they anticipated so they didn't have the man power to invade Switzerland.
But the larger portion of why they didn't invade is because there would be no Switzerland left. Switzerland has relatively large amount of water features. That, coupled with the mountainous terrain on three sides of it, meant there were a lot of tunnels and bridges that had to be constructed and maintained. If the Nazis invaded, the Swiss were prepared to destroy every single bridge, tunnel, and factory. As well as have nearly every single able human in the country fight until they were dead. It was more trouble than it was worth for the Nazis.
I think you guys are confused on what "neutrality" means.
