I decided to go ahead and make an AR in an A1 style but I'm not sure where to get the lower from.

Any suggestions?

You have two options;
1) Nodak Spud, but get ready for a 6+ month waiting time because they are backordered to all shit.
2) McKay Enterprises. Slightly less accurate than NDS' offering, but you get it in a fraction of the time. Currently sold out.

Just ordered a Nodak, I look forward to blasting away when I'm wheelchairbound and finally get it.

Might cave in and get a McKay or a cheap a2 to hold me over and get this kit together. Maybe then make a non-sbr xm177e2 in the future out of the extra.

Have a barrel from them. I'm definitely not an expert on judging the quality of parts on ARs and haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but it looks acceptable.

I ordered by nodak receiver back in may and don't have it yet. I also got my barrel from AR15 Sport, unfortunately I got it in black and with the historically incorrect twist rate and m4 feed ramps. Make sure you buy the right thing. You can use molyresin on black parts to get the proper grey look.

A2 feedramps arent completely necessary unless you want a correct build, but then again if you wanted correct you wouldnt be looking at Nodak. I have the nitrate pencil barrel

Grab an M16A1 parts kit and an unfinished 100% lower. You can have it custom coated with the period correct gray finish at your leisure. You'll also need a lower parts kit, because the M16A1 kit won't have all the little thingy-dingies in it -- the ones that allow for full auto fire will necessarily be missing. Also, a 20" pencil barrel.
