Am kind of dumb at this stuff.

So can any one explain how automatic guns work?
Is it similar to perpetual motion, like does a bullet set off an another bullet?

No but yes. The force from gas generated by one round resets the action in order to fire the next.

Basically yeah. But that's now how perpetual motion works.
In gas-operated guns the expanding gases from the powder conflagration cycles the gun and loads a new round.
Recoil-operated use the kinetic energy in some way to cycle the action.

Boom sends tiny rock flying. ! Boom also causes steel tick l to have bit move back, then fairly shiny stick causes metal stick but to go forward, pushing new boom bit with tiny rock. Metal stick goes boom again.
