I just finished my first AR build (pistol, 10.5" barrel) and it has the standard "bird cage" flash hider on it. Took it out shooting for the first time and this thing shoots fireballs. Is this just going to be something I need to get used to, or is there a flash hider out there that works much more effectively?

finally got the DD rail installed.

now i need to find a new mount for the surefire and order a remite switch

AAC will eventually get replaced with a surefire break.

also ordered a Wilson TTU

the rail and magpul stock added a lot of weight.

Guy I trade with a little works for a LEA. Part of the tac team, they recently put the MCX through some ridiculous testing and per him they performed amazingly. Sounds like they might be replacing their ARs/M4s with them, or trying to.

On the other hand he said they tested the MPX as a replacement candidate for their old MP5s. Said it was complete dog shit before they could get to the real torturous stuff.

Someday I'll probably get a T-1, but I really don't see that happening soon. That torture test where the MD-ADS had to be shot twice with birdshot before the lens even cracked made me feel just fine about keeping it a while.

SBR? well well hot 300blk will perform handsomely but specific heavy 5.56 will too. Make decisions based on majority of your shooting preference (few cheap plinking alot hunting shooting or alot cheap plinking few fancy ammo for hunting or whatever ) then see which ammo choice you will go based on your shooting preference and make decisions based on which's cheaper weighted with performance.

Other ammo choice may come into factor if performance you desire arent matched by those two calibers.

Look into 6.5grendel pls.

CTR is just an overpriced MOE. The minuscule amount of stock wobble could've been fixed with a bit of electrical tape on the buffer tube.
Other than that CTR is just the MOE + a QD.. which if you use, you should be euthanized anyway.

I do this but i used graphite. Right now my buffer tube is fully coated in graphite inside and if you even touch buffer or buffer spring you are guaranteed to get black mark on your hand. I didnt do this for the sound i did it for lubricant.

For sproing/boing sound reduction use thicker grease that come in short fat cardboard can or grease tube for grease gun.

The twank sound isnt spring doing thats base of buffer hitting end of buffertube with excessive force if its that loud you are not using correct buffer/spring rate combo for your rifle more likely your rifle need h2 and maybe spring change to blue or red coded spring from springco

I'm not him, but did it ever occur to you that it probably didn't have anything to do with the money seeing as a KX3 is at least half of it and then probably $50 for a good pin and weld job if you take it to a smith.

It probably has more to do with not letting the ATF bend you over and fuck you for NFA items.

As someone who nearly did this, a few things stopped me:

1) a full 6920 wasn't that much more expensive, and the value of the furniture alone nearly made up the difference
2) having spare colt/magpul stuff for the parts pin is generally convenient anyways
3) the le6920-oem1/2 require trigger guard installation, which is extraordinarily risky for a brand new AR owner
