Gen 2 also doesn't have a dot matrix for marking your magazines (which actually can be a problem if you shoot with friends anywhere but the range), but the Gen 3 can't mount the magazine dust cover on the bottom for easy storage like the Gen 2's can.

Is it worth the extra money? I'd say no, but there are a lot of people who would say yes because they've got to have the latest and greatest. Chances are you'll be fine with the Gen 2s.

Hey anons, question, i have DD front and rear fixed sight, and DD mount for my aimpoint. When i place the aimpoint at the front of the receiver like most pics i see, i cannot 1/3 cowitness, the iron sights are just way too low. I have to move it almost all the way to the rear just to see enough of the iron sights to be effective. When i remove the 1/3 spacer it fully cowitness. Did DD fuck up with their spacing and made it too high? Or am i doing something retarded? Im new to AR but not new to guns.

I am using a aimpoint micro t2

It is far enough away from rear sight to open cover.

if "build your own" wasn't an option (which for me it really isn't because of legal issues), which brand would you recommend out of the box?
Any basic AR will run me around 1600+, with more premium 223 options (HK, Scar, that Sig rifle) at 2000-2300, at which point most quality 308 rifles are sold.
Also I am only permitted to own 3 (three) rifles or shotguns at any time maximum.

My first obvious place to look would be the lens covers though. Are they eating up even a minor amount of view port? There's not much to work with on a lower 1/3 to begin with.

I just thought that I would still be able to see the full circle of the apeture when 1/3, I can tell that it would be possible if the mount was slightly lower by 2-3mm.

If I moved it all the way forward to edge of the receiver like most pics ive seen, I cant even see the front sight.

Thats why Im trying to figure out what the problem is

FYI, if it moves AT ALL, even half a millimeter, you just lost zero.

The optical quality was great, and the dot was very precise, but the integral mount fucking kills the whole optic.

0/10 would not recommend. Worse than airsoft tier because it would not hold zero.

Go ahead and get a PA Advanced micro red dot on a quality mount. Or save a little and get an Aimpoint/EOTech
