>>27711155>>27711178>He is an archaeology and has been part of the HEMA scene in Britain for many years. He should know a thing or two about swords.Nikolas is none of those things.
He works as a dancer. He studied classical archaeology at university in the 90's, he does not work as an archaeologist.
his sum total of HEMA has been attending half a dozen events in the north of England. I know most of the HEMA-ists in the area, most of them think he's an idiot. The vast majority of what he's done is re-enactment - dressing up and waving swords around to make clanging noises to impress spectators. He is not, in any way, someone who "has been part of the hema scene for many years". He is the absolute opposite.
And for an indication of his ignorance, for instance, he did a video on the Rondel dagger. He'd been to a weekend seminar of dagger-fighting techniques two weeks earlier taught by people I know who really *have* been members of the HEMA scene for years. There, Lloyd admitted never having done any such study before, and promptly ignored every single piece of information taught during the class, in the video.
Strangely enough, the people teaching the course were distinctly unimpressed.
The man is an excellent speaker, he comes over as confident and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, the reality is he is a perfect example of someone who knows very little about a subject, and thinks he knows a lot.
