What the best 5.56 round for an SBR? I've heard people on here say 55gr or even 50gr is great, but other forums seem to say heavier is better - like 75gr

how short? I'm gay for TSX and semi-rationally believe they work better moving faster. I'd prolly use 70 grain if I had a 20 inch upper, but from 11.5 I use 55

yeah but its more about bullet length than twist, a factor to consider for copper. short barrels, red dots, and not floating my handguards means the accuracy I lose from 1:7 is minimal

shot 55gr a lot before but currently only shoot 62 gr and 77 gr ammo out of my rifles.

If I'm going to be shooting 0-15 I don't care as much and use 55. Most work I use 62, longer I use 77.

i believe you can remove it easily without removing the barrel nut or wiggling the rod out the back. its also supposed to be lighter but the difference is probably minuscule

Anybody share concern about feed ramp wear rate mismatch between upper and barrel potential cause jam. When aluminum inevitable wear to point where it will not carry nose of round over to barrel and causing it be caught just below of the ramp of the barrel. This upper only have exactly 1670rds and its already happening to point i become concerned.

Especially seeing high round count upper arpund internet with eroded ramp like one of nick'. which i saved pic of.

as for the mount it was a Larue SPR mount, I liked it but I've been switching to ADM lately.

Jb weld is as good against impact as any other plastic.. So no.. You also have the added benefit of having to ground down your feed ramp to complete shit to get the JB weld to hold.

The aluminum is wearing down because of slug impact against the feed ramp. The round hits the feed ramp, jumps and then lands on the barrel feed ramp.. then it hits the taper & jumps again. Minimize the impact and smooth out the feed ramp.

The j&b weld under the aluminum sheet would absorb alot of impact. But i am not fan of basically gluing piece of shit inside upper that if ever come off could cause malfunction.

I am not fan of changing angle to steeper angle which would also increase friction therefore wear which i would have to do all thing over again next two k rds and next. And the angle would changed too steep before barrel is shot out and cause jam no possible to file it further.

So "gluing a sheet metal to ramp is better"

Your suggestions of filing anything to match anything can only go one way which is down and steeper. Its removal of materials hey ho fam.

It will change the angle of the feedramp to steeper angle meaning more friction which mean more wear. In the end after doing your suggestions i will have good continuous feed ramps BUT BUT BUT steeper angle and because of this the round "impacting" that steeper angle will cause even more damage than it did before which it will wear even more fast.

Regular angle feed ramp say to bullet tip as it first touch ramp " Hey! Whats up! Please go this way" and more gently guide the bullet tip into the vagoo. The bullet tip giggling as it flirtful sly up the ramp. Little wear happened

Meanwhile the end product of following your retarded suggestion.

Steeper angle say to bullet as it first touch ramp " fuck you nigga go this way noe!" the bullet angrily and harshly go up the ramp. Wholly dat increased wear!

I just now found out that my Anderson upper doesn't accept hk mag without excessive force. Fucking out of spec piece of shit.

Honestly cant really be mad especially for $50buck. The outer is also machinied improperly thay the groove under the rail alongside the upper is misaligned and cause ch failing to lock in at beginning.

I have Anderson lower and they have been wonderful for me but their the upper was such disappointment, i cant recommend it.

They are like the newest bottom of the barrel cheap parts brand. Many people have problems with their barrels and barrel extensions coming loose. I haven't had that problem with my barrel but I have a couple of their BCG's and one of them I just noticed the gas key is loose despite proper staking.

Thats correct. If you have windham the bolt breaking lugs before 6k rds not real concern. But gas ring should fail bcg stand up test around 5krds give take 1k. Utterly shit buffer spring isnt concern either. So because windham is overall good mid upper entry level ar you can expect no part needing to be replace up to 5kish rds but by then you will need new gas ring new buffer spring (stronger rated one this time if not gotten one already or new standard spring and heavier buffer) and better have spare bolt with gas ring by then.

Thats it until you approach 10k rds you may need replace hammer spring and trigger reset spring depending if it wasnt milspec overpowered one.

Be sure to start inspecting bolt lugs every 500rds after 6k rds.

Myself honestly i would change whole bcg for toolcraft from psa as unmarked premium bcg and blue coded spring from springco and h1 or h2 buffer be worry free and carry zero spare part but gas rings or spare bolt with gas ring. Until i approach 10k

But shitty one can break in as little as 1k like aim surplus first gen shot teir bcg have multiple reports of firing pin breaking fast.

The firing pin was not protected on carrier in first gen aim surplus bcg doesnt help for sure.
