What's this and why is it here?

My brother found this on his boss' land near the Ardmore airpark. It used to be an airbase during WWII and Korea. I have a Marlin 60 and horse apple for size reference. Though, if I had to guess I would say each piece of angle iron is around twelve foot long and three inches across. They are bolted together with some hefty bolts in the middle. The rebar that's ran through the middle is 3/4". It's welded where you see the twist on the right side of my rifle but there's some shackles holding it together on the other side and on a few of the others. There always seems to be four linked together by rebar. Of the sets of four, we counted about nine. There was a flood earlier this year so we're not sure if that's all.

The reason I came to /k/, other than because I lurk all the time here, is everyone around here can't think of any good reason for these to be there other then being part of the old base. I thought maybe they could be some sort of old vehicle barricade. All the barricades I could find weren't as big though. I thought of fence too but that makes no sense, it would cost several times more than most fences.
