Pretty much any modern ballistic tip, softpoint, tbbc, tsx, etc.

Keep in mind in most domestic 'anti-personnel' actions will be around automobiles.

Just go ahead and load-out with armor piercing rounds in your first rifle mag.

That way you can stop a vehicle for sure and then defeat any body armor too.

2nd mag can be standard ball to clean up.

At what range? Certain bullets are designed to do specific things at different ranges.

That being said, .308 near a vital zone is a death sentence. If you were going to kill them with a whizzbang poppeycock $4 per cartridge load you also would have done it with $0.88 surplus

Sort of related: what do you guys think is the best platform for a general-purpose .308 rifle? Something that could be proficient for hunting, target shooting, and/or shooting blue UN helmets.

You wouldn't want it anyway, same with the steel lots of Lake City M80 ball.
Just fragmenting doesn't mean the round performs well. They have god fucking awful neck length, and even worse frag threshold.
