I paid 475 for an early production M9A1, April 2004 manufacture. This gun still had the old extractor that was shit. It would shoot nickel plated stuff no problem, but all sorts of horrible malfunctions with anything else. As such, gave Jeff a call down at SAI for new parts. Within a week, had a new extractor, extractor spring and plunger for free and a sticker.
I got jewed on price considering thats new MSRP and I paid that for a 10 year old gun that didnt function... but I was in a hurry to get my first pistol and that was the only M9 I had ever seen in person and I was real hot to trot considering this was the last WAC show for private transfers before I594 took effect so I still got it through private sale. Was pretty salty when I saw someone post a link to some shit called "preppersgunshop" that has new M9A1's for less than that... but I had spent a long time searching online and never saw any new-dealers until that link.
As far as the gun goes...
Yeah, its comfortable. Trigger is decent, reset is short but not particularly tactile. I prefer the reset on a Glock more, that although a little mushy has a real nice *click* to it IMO. Or Walther PPS. Sights are cool, its just too bad nobody makes triangle night sights. Mags are eh, a little pricey but whatever.
Holster options aren't particularly good. I had/have an Aliengear that sucks. Holster itself is comfortable enough but the retention and shell for the gun itself suck ass. I think this is an issue with the mold-gun though, because I got a new holster from a local company called K-Rounds who listed Steyrs as a holster they made. When I called initially, they apologized but said they would need the gun in shop, because they had a few returns from people complaining about fitment so they trashed their blue/red gun for it because it was clearly out of spec.
