I have had residue build up on my light and I just wipe it with my thumb and it comes right off. You probably dont need to spend money on snake oil for that

Spit and a t-shirt works ok in a pinch for me. Still smudged up but whatever.

Of course when I clean the gun I use Mpro7 which gets it crystal clear again.

I've had carbon cake on pretty hard to a weapon light. It comes off with a finger but not as cleanly as what is shown in the video.

The point I was trying to make was that you'd want to get the carbon off immediately in a potential hostile environment. And busting out a pencil wouldn't be as quick as wiping a finger across the lens.

Firefights suck. Even though you're not shooting constantly you don't always have a chance to inspect your rifle or do maintenance. etc etc.
