I acquired a Charter Arms Undercover in .38 today. Don't judge me, I know what I have is low tier quality and have my reasons for not spending.

Wanted to get /k/ opinion if it's okay to load it up with .38 +p for self defense only. I will test it with regular target loads at the range first and would only carry it with +p loads. There seems to be a lot of mixed opinions on the web and everyone I speak to says something different. I don't care much at all about the longevity of the gun, but I don't want it to KB if I ever have to defend myself.

Thoughts?

I regularly sell charter arms revolvers, especially the pitbull in 9mm, 40 and 45. They have great single action and okish double action triggers. I honestly haven’t heard a peep from my customers about these being bad guns. Are there problems I should be concerned about?

Aside from the fact that they're pretty much the Hi-Point Firearms of revolvers, they're pretty ok.

Cheap low-quality guns made for gangbangers and old people, but they still go bang every time you pull the trigger.

Charter Arms is actually ok.

It's a nigger tier firearm, but for the kind of niggers who have trigger discipline and call hollow points "hollow points" not "holla tips"

1. figure out when it was made
2. don't use .38 spl +p until you are sure it's from 1988 or earlier and you have at least a 4" barrel.
2a. +p hardly has enough advantage over normal .38 in under 4" barrels, and undercovers made after 1988 may be an unmarked (most were marked, but some weren't) alloy frame which will crack and flame cut with +p, eventually failing.
